Arizona Early Music Society - 889-4310

Founded in 1981 by University of Arizona musicologist John Boe, AEMS is a nonprofit, volunteer-run organization whose purpose is to present live performances of early music (Middle Ages, Renaissance, Baroque and pre-Classic) performed by internationally renowned artists on instruments of the period. All concerts are Sundays at 3 p.m. at St. Philip's in the Hills Episcopal Church, with a pre-concert lecture at 2:30 p.m.

Pima Community College Center for the Arts - 206-6986

The mission of the Center is to provide cultural enrichment opportunities for the Pima College community and for residents of the area by providing support, encouragement, resources and facilities for the arts and arts-related events. All performances in the Proscenium Theatre except where indicated.

Seven Pipers Scottish Society - 798-6980

The Pipes and Drums of the Seven Pipers are active in national and regional competitions and recently traveled to Scotland to compete in The World Bagpipe Band Championship Competition in Glasgow. In addition to the Pipes and Drums, Seven Pipers performances include Highland dancing, Scottish Country dancing, a Ceilidh Band and a vocal group. Performances to be announced.

Tucson Arts District Partnership - 624-9977

Established in 1989, the Partnership's activities and accomplishments include Downtown Saturday Night, 3rd Saturday Craft Market, Art2 Art Market, Artist(s) in residence grants/activities, Art Studio Space, Arts District Calendar of Events, Thursday Night Artwalks, Phantom Gallery/Murals, Warehouse District Walking Tours and a docent program.

Tucson Blues Society - 617-4617

Founded in 1984, TBS is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting an awareness and enjoyment of blues music and culture. TBS sponsors concerts, workshops, and blues programs throughout the year, including one of the largest free Blues Festivals in the world. Watch for Blues Festival activities in the middle of March.

Tucson Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society

This group has been active in the community for over 50 years, providing entertainment at conventions, meetings, sporting events, nursing homes, etc., in addition to their shows supporting community youth programs. The Barbershop Harmony Society also performs annual shows in Tucson, Green Valley and other Southern Arizona communities.

Tucson Friends of Traditional Music - 327-1779

The group sponsors and promotes concerts, dances, workshops and informal music sessions. Through these activities and a newsletter publication, TFTM builds awareness, educates and fosters diversity in music and dance in the Tucson community. Contra and square dances with live string band music are held on the first and third Saturday of each month. Beginners are always welcome.

Tucson Jazz Society - 903-1265

For 23 years, TJS has promoted every type of jazz throughout Southern Arizona. The Society awards scholarships; runs all-city high school and middle school jazz bands; presents various concerts throughout the year including spring, summer and fall concert series and Primavera, the oldest women's jazz event in the world; and maintains a 24-hour Jazz Hotline (743-3399).

Tucson Jewish Community Center - 299-3000

The Tucson Jewish Community Center Cultural Arts Series includes a distinguished lecture series, Judaic Book and Art Fair, Jewish Film Festival, and music and theater events. Programs are held at the JCC, 3800 E. River Road unless otherwise indicated. Events are open to all.

UofA Presents - Centennial Hall - 621-3341

Each year, UApresents, The University of Arizona's performing arts series, brings leading artists from around the world to Southern Arizona. "Infinite Possibilities," the UApresents 2000/2001 Season, features 45 events, including Broadway musicals, classical, jazz and popular music, ballet, modern dance, Latin and international culture, and unique community events, as well as master classes, pre- and post-performance presentations, and meet-the-artist opportunities. Performances are at UA Centennial Hall (Park Ave. and University Blvd.) unless otherwise noted.


U of A The School of Music and Dance

The School of Music and Dance with preprofessional training for musicians and dancers, presents approximately 350 performances throughout the year featuring a wide variety of music and dance in Holsclaw and Crowder halls, located within the School of Music building at the southeast corner of Speedway and Park. Three fully-staged operas are presented annually. The Faculty Artist Series showcases the School's internationally renowned faculty. Concerts series regularly feature the UA Symphony Orchestra, choral groups (Arizona Choir, Symphonic Choir, University Community Chorus), Jazz Ensembles, Wind Bands, Organ Series and more. Many events are free and open to the public; those that are ticketed are affordably priced, call the Box Office at (520)621-1162.
