group was founded in 1993 by Jane Matty Willett to provide performance
opportunities for those who love to dance.
Arizona Dance Collective's commitment is to produce quality productions,
utilizing dancers of all ages and abilities; and to promote the joy
of dance for our community's entertainment.
"A Time to Dance" Studio and Dancing for the Lord

"A
Time to Dance" Studio and Dancing for the Lord present quality performances
for the community at large with a Christian emphasis. The studio is
the training ground for the group. The organization's Dec. 23 Christmas
Concert will be held at the Berger Performing Arts Center, 1200 W.
Speedway.

This
organization is committed to producing professional quality ballets
based on both classical and contemporary traditions. This commitment
includes creating exciting and innovative programs, to collaborating
with regional artists and arts organizations and to celebrating the
rich, cultural diversity of the Southwest.
The
Hot Flashes - 296-1383
Tucson's
senior women tap dancers ranging in age from 50 to 86 are a class
act. Known nationally and internationally for high-stepping precision
and inspiring youth and seniors alike, they have appeared on television
commercials in Arizona and New York, have been featured in newspapers
and magazines, and performed for the National Senior Olympics and
a U of A basketball half-time show.

Orts
Theatre of Dance, formed in 1985, is Tucson's oldest, and one of the
Southwest's largest modern dance companies. An eight-time Best of
Tucson winner, the company is internationally known for its "flying
dance" on the single-point trapeze and its collaborations with many
other artists and art forms.

ARTiculations - 529-9267
NEW
Articulations is a modern dance company founded in 1997 by three local
dancers. The group performs contemporary modern dance, frequently
including improvisational dance and collaborations with poets and
musicians. As part of its mission to promote the growth of emerging
dancers and choreographers, it seeks to provide collaborative and
experimental projects, technique and improvisational classes, guest
artist residencies and choreographers' showcases.
Redhouse
Dancers - 886-7651
This
Native American performing arts group is composed of members of the
Navajo Nation. The group also conducts native craft workshops and
demonstrations. The Redhouse Dancers perform a variety of dances with
live music and explicit narratives of related traditions and customs.
Presentations are educational, colorful and entertaining for varied
occasions.
Tenth
Street Danceworks - 622-1793
Founded
in 1984, this contemporary dance company is known for its surprising
and innovative collaborations and dynamic dancing. A fun-filled contemporary
dance concert is presented Sept. 22-24, 2001 at Reid Park's DeMeester
Outdoor Performance Center. Special guest performers are Dancers In
Company from the University of Iowa.

Dance Division / UA School of Music and Dance

The
University of Arizona offers a college dance program that has been
invited to the Kennedy Center to perform in a festival where only
professional companies are presented. UA Dance has also been invited
to international gatherings in Hong Kong and Germany. The college
dance ensemble has toured Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands and major
U.S. cities.
