Arizona
Symphonic Winds

The
Arizona Symphonic Winds, under the direction of Lazlo Veres, is Southern
Arizona's premier community concert band. Comprised of 60 volunteers,
this musical organization presents concerts throughout the Tucson
area. Included in its repertoire are Broadway show tunes, orchestral
transcriptions, movie themes, marches and traditional band literature.
The band frequently showcases both professional and amateur soloists
at its concerts.
Big
Band Express - 749-3681
Big
Band Express is an organization of Tucson jazz professionals, specializing
in exciting music of the swing era. Formed in 199, the 16-piece big
band consists of Tucson-based musicians with many years of experience
with big bands throughout the United States. The group has appeared
at dances and concerts throughout Southern Arizona at functions like
the Silver and Turquoise Ball, Tubac Arts Festival and the Senior
Olympics.
Casas
Adobes Concerts - 297-1181
Founded
in 1989, this musical outreach program of the Casas Adobes Congregational
Church is aimed at providing the people of Northwest Tucson with an
exciting and accessible concert series in an intimate setting. The
series presents respected local, national and international musicians,
each with a distinct and unique musical style. Concerts are funded
solely by contributions.
Glen
Miller Trio - 299-4445
A
trio with a big band style for your listening and dancing pleasure.
The Glen Miller Trio, under the direction of Glen Miller, specializes
in the big band sounds of the '30s and '40s along with a variety of
styles such as waltzes, cha-chas, the bossa nova, the tango, polkas
and even the "Charleston." Also enjoy the contemporary sounds of "New
York, New York," big band rock and even a little Dixieland.
Green
Valley Concert Association, Inc. - 648-5961
In
its 28th season, the Green Valley Concert Association will present
seven professional concerts. Each concert is on a Friday night and
begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Valley Presbyterian Church in Green Valley.

Concert! presents performances of contemporary, folk and world music.
Performances at various halls including Berger Performing Arts Center.

Jazzberry
Jam - 621-1341/885-1984
Founded
in 1977 at the University of Arizona by professor and pianist Jeffrey
Haskell, Jazzberry Jam has given hundreds of concerts both in and
out of Arizona, toured Mexico for the Department of State and performed
in numerous jazz festivals throughout the West.
Old
Arizona Brass Band - 297-0523
The
Old Arizona Brass Band performs a varied and authentic repertoire
of original 19th century national airs, quicksteps, gallops, waltzes,
reels, polkas, parlor songs, quadrilles, overtures, rags, circus marches
and other period music. This group, directed by Ray Hicks, performs
in colorful circus or military uniforms of the late 1800s. Old Arizona
Brass Band often performs as a reincarnation of the 4th US Cavalry
Band that was stationed at Historic Fort Lowell, Arizona Territory,
from 1884 to 1886.
The
Rhythm Gang - 296-3640
The
Rhythm Gang has been performing in the Tucson area at hospitals, churches,
parks and charitable benefits for more than 20 years. Made up of experienced
volunteer musicians, this group is directed by Haaren Miklofsky and
has the purpose of reviving and performing the big band music of the
1930s and 1940s.
Tucson
Concert Band - 298-1252
The
Tucson Concert Band, formerly Beaver's Tucson Concert Band, has been
performing for Southern Arizona audiences for more than 33 years.
Founded by Howard Beaver, this volunteer community concert band today
is directed by Dr. Herschel Kreloff and provides concerts to the greater
Tucson community throughout the year.
Tucson
Ringers - 299-4445
Under
the direction of Glen W. Miller, Bellmaster, and Hughetta E. Miller,
assistant director, this performing English handbell ensemble presents
community holiday concerts and wedding music. The Tucson Ringers delights
audiences everywhere.
Zeitgeist

Southern
Arizona's premier presenter of nationally and internationally recognized
innovators in the jazz tradition who are extending the boundaries
of improvised music. The Jazz at the Institute series presents 5-6
concerts per season of these established musicians, with a pronounced
emphasis on Western artists. Emerging Voices is the monthly series
that provides performance opportunities for less-established local
and regional improvising artists the first Monday of every month,
Sept.-May. All performances take place at 8 p.m. at the Mat Bevel
Institute, 530 N. Stone Ave.
